Lockdown Licks no. 162. “She’s a Heartbreaker” by ZZ Top. Lead solo, played on a Telecaster set to bridge pick up using a NUX M8 amp on ‘blues’ setting with the gain backed off to 5 and slight reverb.
“She’s a Heartbreaker” is a country rock song on the ZZ Top album “Tejas” which is their fifth studio album. It was released in late November 1976, on the London label. The title is a Caddo language word meaning ‘friends’, which is the origin of the name of the band’s home state, Texas. One of my favourite albums as it is very diverse, with varied examples of the bands ‘tex mex’,rock, blues, funk and country. Well worth a listen and very different from ‘Eliminator’ which itself became a huge worldwide hit in the 1980’s.
