Lockdown Licks no. 214. “LLs Pick ‘n Bottle Slide intro lick” in style of Ballad of Curtis Loew by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Played on a Fender Stratocaster into a NUX M8 amp on clean setting with a slight amount of reverb. I used a hybrid of slide and standard lead with a bend. I’m no Justin Johnson but love the sound from my tapered glass Jim Dunlop slide on a Stratocaster.
Ballad of Curtis Loew is a jaw dropping ballad from the Lynyrd Skynyrd album ‘Second Helping’. It has a touching story about an anonymous busker who liked a drink, but people labelled as useless, Throw him some coins for his drink and boy could he play the blues on his ‘Dobro’ guitar.
