Lockdown Lick 321

Lockdown Licks no. 321. “Starbound” by JJ Cale. Intro style solos and 1st verse singalong using the sweet spacey C major 7 and F with open G chords. Played on a Stratocaster with accompanying ‘house band’ -a ‘Trio’ pedal providing some inventive bass and drums in response to me playing the chords to it once! No talking crap, taking stuff, drinking too much or tantrums from these band mates!😂👍🎸 Also using the onboard ‘number one’ guitar effect from the Trio. Then into a NUX M8 amp set to clean with some reverb.

The 1st verse lyrics to singalong :

🎶When you and I are ready,

No longer earthly bound,

We’ll travel through the crystal night, Starbound,(you and I)🎶

Okie is the third studio album by J. J. Cale, Starbound is 3rd track side 1. It was released in 1974. After having Eric Clapton take his composition “After Midnight” to the Top 20 in 1970, Cale scored another windfall when Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded “Call Me the Breeze” for their 1974 LP Second Helping. Although Cale would not have the success with his music that others would, the royalties from artists covering his songs would allow him to record and tour as it suited him.
