Just Got Paid” by ZZ Top

Hey guitarists!
Welcome to the first installment of “Lockdown Licks,” a series where I’ll be sharing licks, riffs, and solo snippets played on my trusty Fender Stratocaster. Hopefully, this will inspire some of you who’ve taken up the guitar during these challenging times.

For our inaugural lick, we’re diving into the classic “Just Got Paid” by ZZ Top, featured on their self-titled 1971 debut album. This iconic track boasts a powerful, funky blues-rock groove, and I’ll be demonstrating a lick that utilizes a driving E-string drone.
But don’t stop there! I highly recommend exploring the entire track.

Pay close attention to the masterful slide guitar work of Billy Gibbons and the raw, gritty intensity of his vocal delivery. It’s a true blues-rock masterpiece.
I’ll be posting new licks regularly, so stay tuned for more inspiration!
