Lockdown Licks no. 200.
‘Soul Limbo Rock’ original by Booker T and the MGs using hammond organ for the main riffs/solo. First video is of the calypso style signature bass line played on an HB35+ recorded to a looper with “superlead” added after recording.Second video shows the signature riffs/chords played over this loop on a Stratocaster set to neck pick up. This was using a NUX M8 amp on “superlead” with a little reverb.

Another milestone reached with the LLs double century! For decades, ‘Soul Limbo’ has been the theme music for the TV coverage of international cricket in the UK. A century, or even better, a rare double century, is also a dream score for batters in cricket. To celebrate England beating New Zealand in the cricket Test Match series recently I’m donning my 3 lions England cricket hat! Howzat!!
Stop press! Lockdown Licks in the press!
The sepia photo attached is from a photo shoot for an interview about Lockdown Licks I did for an online guitar web ‘magazine’. GD is the online guitar site all about guitar players, both pros and ams. Chris Dempsey writes some interesting articles about great guitarists on the Guitar door site.
