Lockdown Licks no 227. ‘Voodoo Chile Style’ riff played on a Stratocaster into a ‘Sonicake’ “Wah Wah” pedal then into a NUX M8 amp set to superlead with gain backed off to 3. Using the wah wah in time with the rhythm, pressing approx 75% and back worked well.
Voodoo Chile” is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and recorded in 1968 for the third Jimi Hendrix Experience album Electric Ladyland. Hendrix named Muddy Waters as an influence.
I found the Sonicake VolWah shown in the photo to be an excellent easy to use ‘out of the box’ option. A great value choice for an authentic analogue ‘wah wah’ effect in a compact, well designed and lightweight chassis which includes green and red LEDs indicating the effect being used with green for volume swells and red for wah wah. Pressing fully down on the pedal allows for very easy switching between the two effects.
