Lockdown Lick 237

Lockdown Lick

Lockdown Licks no. 237. “Georgia Rhythm” style licks by Atlanta Rhythm Section. Played on a Telecaster into a NUX M8 amp set to ‘superlead’ with gain backed off to 3.

How are the riffs played? πŸ€”πŸŽΈ

Playing a half tone finger slide partial chord from E to F with added ‘sus’ note.

Then into a gritty sounding double stop/ pedal tone riff, a riff on a partial G chord at 12th fret, finishing with a single note bass string run ending in a partial C chord.

If like me you thought you’d heard all the classic and southern rock bands of the 1970s get yourself some Atlanta Rhythm Section! An eclectic band with soft ballads, country rock, heavy rock, blues rock all included in their varied 1970s albums.

The Atlanta Rhythm Section formed in 1970. Members were Rodney Justo (singer) replaced early on with the fine lead vocals of Ronnie Hammond, Barry Bailey (guitar), Paul Goddard (bass), Dean Daughtry (keyboards), Robert Nix (drums) and J. R. Cobb (guitar). A high in the charts was the song “So Into You” in 1977 which made #7 on the US chart.

A favourite album of mine is Back Up Against The Wall as well as the song Doraville named after the Georgia town where they formed.
