Lockdown Licks no. 288. “LLs Rocking Steel”. Played on a “HB Vintage Slider 2” lap steel in D tuning paired with a Dunlop glass slide.
Played Using a NUX M8 amp set to ‘superlead’ with reverb.
Considering some pay a fortune in fancy guitars, amps, pickups and pedals chasing an authentic rock sound, I wasn’t sure if the Vintage Slider 2 could “rock out”. So I gave it a go.
The first riff is played on alternate open to freted A and D strings with a descending half tone drag to give an “outlaw” country rock feel, then sliding up to a G5 chord.
A classic blues rock sounding riff is then played around A before descending through G and D, back to the first riff.
