Lockdown Lick no. 294. “LLs Pickers Turn Blues.” Played on a Stratocaster into a NUX M8 amp set to clean with some chorus and reverb.
In the band, you’re happily playing your chord sequence, popping a picked arpeggio chord now and then even! Sounds Great! Only now, in the song, it’s “your” turn”! Yakes!! What to do?
Keep picking! throw in a few single note riffs of course but not too much!
Go to the blues “tool kit” ….a few double stops, drone and open strings, picked pedal tone argeggio chords, parralel 4th & 6th on G & E strings, a trill, vibrato and a bend can be used to take a solo as a picking player and keep a full picking sound for the band.
