Lockdown Licks 325. “Summertime ” by George Gershwin. Played on an HB35+ guitar into a NUX M8 amp on clean channel with a touch of chorus & reverb.
Played in A minor with jazz blues improvised lead and picking to end.
Written in 1934, ‘Summertime’ was one of the first compositions George Gershwin worked on for his brand-new opera Porgy and Bess. The jazz-inspired song is a lullaby for Clara to sing to her child, and it is reprised several more times throughout the opera. It has been successfully covered by countless musicians over the decades.
