Lockdown Licks no. 374. “Foolin Around” written by Buck Owens & Harlan Howard.
Country rock style riffs and first verse singalong. Played uptempo on a Telecaster into a NUX M8 amp on “classic” setting with reverb.
A Trio pedal provides country style drums. I know.. I should get a mic for the singing but there are much better singers, so let’s hear you!
The words/chords to singalong:
G-D-C
I know that…You been foolin round with me right from the start,
I’ll take back my ring and I’ll take back my heart,
When you’re tired of fooling ’round with two or three,
Take some time and fool around with me.
“Foolin’ Around” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Buck Owens released in 1961. The song peaked at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Patsy Cline also had a hit with her cover and Francie Smith did a great uptempo version. A pre country rock song? Somehow reminds me of some songs from the Birds,Eagles, Atlanta Rhythm Section & Poco styles which soared in popularity a decade later in the 1970s.
