Lockdown Licks no. 393
“Scale Slider” riff.
Played on an SC500 on bridge pickup into a NUX M8 amp set to superlead with some reverb.
A short series of riffs which packs 15 notes including finger slide riffs into 5 seconds is a lot of fun!
Sometimes ripping up through the major scale & ignoring scale boxes is a good technique to use.
You can nail this riff in no time!!
The beauty of this riff is it can be played with
only index & ring finger on fretting hand.
Watching the two videos, one at full speed and then second at half speed, showing fret hand.
I recommend playing unplugged at first on a Gibson LP style.
Keep it simple with the tube screamer model gain at 7 or 8 and medium reverb. Guitar volume at 9 on bridge humbucker.
Watch & listen the videos again, try to space the notes equally in the time available,
hold the last note on top E string, letting the combination of tube screamer/Les Paul/humbucker ring on!
Can be played with pick or thumb
You can gradually build to full speed using the vids on loop.
A good slick riff to add as contrast to other pentatonic play,
giving your thumb & 2 fingers a work out!
