Lockdown Licks no. 394. Asleep In the Desert by ZZ Top. Billy’s chromatic intro and latin style 1st solo.
Played on a HB35+ semi hollow into a NUX M8 amp set to clean with some reverb.
Something completely different today and absolutely untypical for ZZ Top. A wonderful latin-blues instrumental, very relaxed, smooth, tasteful. It is among many fine tunes on the Tejas album 1976. Billy Gibbons plays strong spanish style riffs and repeating chromatic riffs throughout this dreamy classic.
