Lockdown Licks ‘Loop’ no. 81.
“1970’s Butterscotch Funk Gumbo” original composed today by Paul Wildman.
Produced and recorded in a couple of hours today using looper pedal with multi layers. All five played on a newish butterscotch blond Telecaster which hasn’t changed in design much since the 1970s.
Bass, rhythm, signature riff, octave lead, single note lead all played on various settings/pick up configurations with a touch of chorus, overdrive, delay and room/hall reverb.
Starring my thumb turning on the looper the looper is then plugged in playing through the NUX amp on clean setting and mid EQ settings.
“1970s Butterscotch Funk Gumbo” by PW started as a few sweet jazz chords to do a slow tune with just a simple two track rhythm/lead, but turned into what I would describe as slightly uptempo ‘1970s funk rock/jazz fusion guitar.’ Not sure how that happened!
Inspired by the Telecaster & my love of bands such as Steely Dan, Nile Rodgers, Santana, Doobie Brothers, Little Feat, and The Stones music. They all blended many elements of blues/rock/funk/jazz/soul into their music.
That 70s gumbo of styles really inspires me.
