Lockdown Lick 99

Lockdown Licks no. 99

“Cocaine” Traditional/JJ Cale.

Signature riff/support riffs. Played on a Telecaster, volume on 8, mid pick up setting, NUX amp set to ‘super lead’. Played ‘heavier’ than the JJ version.

“Cocaine” is a traditional blues song. In 1976 it was extended and recorded by singer-songwriter JJ Cale on “Troubadour”. The song was popularized by Eric Clapton after his cover version was released on the 1977 album Slowhand. J. J. Cale’s version of “Cocaine” was a number one hit in New Zealand for a single week and became the seventh best-selling single of 1977.
